Questions? Answered.
01
How much time do I need to set aside for study?
Study time differs from student to student, depending upon their academic ability and learning style. As a general guide, a typical 4-credit course has a student learning time (SLT) of around 160 hours or about 12 hours per week. Students who develop an effective learning style may require less effort to achieve the stated learning outcomes.
02
Can I pursue this programme from anywhere in the world?

04
Do I need any specific software installed on my computer?
No. You may access our learning platform and webinar tools from the browser. Some common plug-ins may be required. You may also download apps to your mobile device.
Learning Method
The New Way Of Learning
Case Study Method
The case study method pioneered by Harvard Business Schools enables working professionals to assimilate theory better and apply the concepts to the real world. This method puts students in real-world business situations and challenges them to analyse, assess and make business decisions. They have to then defend these decisions in a classroom full of opinionated peers from diverse backgrounds. It is this rigorous process of testing your analytical ability on a daily basis that truly prepares you for leadership roles.
At the heart of the case study method is the faculty who facilitates the discussions and ask those all-important questions that lead to an ‘aha’ moment of learning.
At Manipal GlobalNxt University, we have perfected the case study method for the virtual platform. Our students thrive on the discussion boards and enjoy every bit of this experience, coming out not only better prepared for management positions but also with a more balanced and well-rounded perspective. Our faculty are master trainers in the case study method and work closely with students to bring out the best in them and push them to think beyond the obvious.
The Flexibility Advantage
The Global Classroom Pedagogy at Manipal GlobalNxt University provides you with the flexibility of studying anywhere, anytime. As long as you follow the study schedule and are aware of the assignment deadlines, you have the freedom to organize your studies as you wish.
This is a huge advantage for working professionals who need a program that is flexible enough to accommodate their job, lifestyle, social life, etc. and not the other way around.
But perhaps you also want to be able to complete your degree in 18 months instead of 24 or maybe you want an option to take it slow and easy and take 3 years.
This is where the University’s Flexi-Pace option comes in, enabling you to complete your academic qualification or degree quickly or slowly, as you wish. In short, you control the pace.
As a student, you select the classes you want to enrol in from our annual roster of classes, so long as you are not enrolled in more than 3 classes at any one time. This means you can plan your classes well ahead of time.
Typically, the most popular courses run every couple of months so you don’t have to wait long for the next class. Or you might take a few breaks in between subjects. It is up to you.
And even if you need more time beyond the normal candidature period of the program you can apply for extended candidature.
- With extended candidature, a learner can take as long as they want to complete a program after the normal candidature period has lapsed.
- Extended candidature allows a learner, for a fee, to extend their candidature for further 12 months.
- A learner may continue to extend their candidature in this way for as long as they need.
- Normal candidature is the period of time a student is given to complete a program and starts from the time a learner starts their first subject.
- Normal candidature is usually sufficient for the majority of students to complete the program as long as they maintain a reasonable study-rate. For example, for the MBA program which requires the completion of 12 subjects, learners who complete at least 4 subjects per year complete the program within the normal candidature.
Online Learning Platform
The greatest challenge that any learner faces today, is not “what to learn” but “how to learn effectively”. This drove Manipal GlobalNxt University to develop a Learning Platform that is flexible, scalable, reliable, and most importantly easy-to-use. The system has been completely revamped with only one goal in mind – a great user experience.
Our Interactive Digital Content condenses the entire content of a 300-page textbook into 15-20 interactive webpages, each with its own set of clearly defined learning objectives, without losing any relevant subject matter information. This is done by a passionate team of Faculties, Instructional Designers, Graphic Designers and Multimedia Developers. Some of the different types of digital content on offer are:
- Faculty-led instructional videos
- Animated concept videos and case studies
- Concept maps
- Interactive animations
The problem of asynchronous communication with eLearning environments is due to the lack of contact with faculty/instructors as compared to the traditional classroom model of learning. Also, each learner does not study the same subject matter at the same time which further compounds the problem of giving individual attention to the learner’s problems.
GlobalNxt offers a learning platform using multiple channels where every learner is regularly updated about the learning activities that are scheduled for their benefit. This Discussion Board or DB is an integral part of education at Manipal GlobalNxt University where the action happens. The DB is the co-learning forum where learners immerse themselves in case discussions, put themselves in the shoes of decision-makers, voice opinions and defend them. This experience is facilitated by our expert faculty, who nudge and prod the forum to bring out the best in students. Graduates benefit from insightful questions asked by the faculty that persuades them to think!
The only way to ascertain the amount of knowledge gained by a learner is through assessments. In eLearning environments, there is an even bigger question on Learning Effectiveness. How do we make sure that each learner is actually learning something from the content and the various learning activities? Some of the learning platform features are:
- IMS Question and Test Interoperability (QTI) compliant: A worldwide standard for assessment content and results supported by a handful of applications in the world.
- Lightweight and easy to access
- Support for multiple questions types
- Active feedback

Assessment And Examinations
- The mode of assessment and examinations varies from program to program.
- The University advocates an authentic assessment approach wherein it encourages assessment activities that require the students to apply their learning to real-life problems, case-studies, or situations that they would face in the real-world.
- Typically, for programs such as MBA and MSc ITM, a student’s performance in a subject depends on a combination of continuous assessment and the final examination.
Continuous assessment is normally worth 60% of a student’s overall score. A student is assessed on:
- Discussion Board Activities (30%)
- Action Learning Group Project (15%)
- Final Integrated Project (15%)
- Final Open-Book Open-Web Exam (40%)
For team projects, teams are usually formed by our intelligent learning management system though professors have the flexibility to manually assign students to various teams. In order to preserve the sanctity and rigor of group work, students must complete a self and peer assessment at the end of each team project. This is used to award the student an individual mark for the team project that truly reflects the level of an individual’s contribution to the team’s cause.
At the end of a subject, students must pass a final exam worth 40% of the overall score. Please note that students must pass the final exam to pass the subject as a whole, i.e. a student cannot simply do well on the continuous assessment and do poorly for the final exam.
Exams are conducted online using the University’s established Open-Book Open-Web (OBOW) exam approach.
Extended Candidature
- Normal candidature is the period of time a student is given to complete a program and starts from the time a learner starts their first subject.
- Normal candidature is usually sufficient for the majority of students to complete the program as long as they maintain a reasonable study-rate. For example, for the MBA program which requires the completion of 12 subjects, learners who complete at least 4 subjects per year complete the program within the normal candidature.
- With extended candidature, a learner can take as long as they want to complete a program after the normal candidature period has lapsed.
- Extended candidature allows a learner, for a fee, to extend their candidature for further 12 months.
- A learner may continue to extend their candidature in this way for as long as they need.
