Nicholas Nyasha Matsika is my name. I am dedicated to providing top-quality service as an ISO-certified undertaker of choice. We have established a significant presence in Zimbabwe and South Africa, and I am currently leading the efforts to expand into Dubai and England. I possess a strong drive for success and am highly motivated to achieve positive outcomes. I thrive in a team environment and am always eager to learn and explore new ideas. My experience spans various areas, including entrepreneurship, insurance, and marketing, which has provided me with a solid foundation in business acumen. I hold a Master of Commerce in Marketing Strategy (Awarded book prize), a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing Management Honours Degree, a Bachelor of Commerce in Risk Management and Insurance Honours Degree, an Executive Certificate in Business Marketing, and a Diploma in Pension and Administration. I currently hold the position of Managing Director at Doves Funeral Services Company in Zimbabwe.

I am happily married to Rufaro, and we are proud parents of three wonderful children. I informed my children (Darryl, pursuing civil engineering; Pamela, studying law; and Alana, in Grade 4) that if I were to pass away without achieving a Doctorate, they should express at my funeral that their Father departed with unfulfilled aspirations. I enrolled in a DBA program at Manipal Global NXT University to ensure that I leave with a sense of pride and a proper farewell. Since then, I have become a living example of the perfect blend of professional excellence and academic ambition. I am dedicated to enhancing my knowledge in business administration, specifically in the deathcare management practices within the funeral services industry in Zimbabwe and beyond.

My time at Manipal Global NXT University has been truly life-changing. I established a solid foundation by completing advanced modules in strategic management, people and organizational management, marketing strategy, data analytics, and international business. These modules greatly enhanced my understanding and equipped me with vital skills necessary for a thriving funeral service profession. I gained extensive experience in strategic management, people management, marketing, and finance. I specialize in studying the complex dynamics of deathcare management practices and how they significantly influence customer satisfaction in the funeral services industry. I conducted thorough case studies on a range of topics, including macroeconomic factors, geopolitical tensions, human resources management during the COVID-19 pandemic, digitalization of funeral services, international marketing strategy, and financial challenges within the healthcare sector. This allowed me to broaden my knowledge and sharpen my skills in these areas. As I near the end of my DBA program, I am fully engaged in my final thesis, exploring “The impact of deathcare management practices on customer satisfaction. A case study of the funeral services industry in Zimbabwe.” This research reflects my academic knowledge and practical experiences as the Managing Director at Doves Funeral Services Company.

I have faced my fair share of challenges commonly encountered by individuals pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration program. Dealing with the challenges of juggling a busy job, maintaining a work-life balance, navigating limited resources, and the solitary nature of independent research posed significant obstacles. However, my ability to persevere, efficiently manage my time, actively seek assistance, and remain dedicated to my duties played a crucial role in overcoming these obstacles. The DBA journey has been a transformative experience that has shaped my personal and professional development. Mastering the art of overcoming obstacles built my unwavering determination while adeptly juggling various responsibilities sharpened my time management abilities. The outcome demonstrated a comprehensive range of skills crucial for positions of authority, highlighting my growth into a more competent and flexible professional. I possess a wide range of skills that can be effectively applied in various business domains. Throughout my academic journey, I have honed my skills in data analytics, advanced people management, marketing analytics, research methodologies, strategy formulation, and international business. These skills demonstrate my readiness to address intricate challenges in the funeral services sector.

I have found that the diverse modules offered by Manipal Global NXT University have greatly enhanced my current research work. The knowledge and skills gained through the academic journey are essential in understanding and analyzing the intricacies of deathcare management practices. This integration greatly enhances my comprehensive grasp of customer satisfaction in the funeral services industry. Near the end of my academic journey, I feel a strong sense of confidence and preparedness for what lies ahead. This endeavour goes far beyond mere academic pursuit; it is a profound story of personal development, tenacity, and the mastery of essential skills necessary for achieving greatness. I support and encourage fellow students, stressing the significance of resilience, efficient time management, and actively seeking assistance. Farai’s consistent financial and emotional backing has provided me with the stability and motivation to navigate the difficulties of juggling work, family, and academic endeavours.
