At GlobalNxt University, accessibility is central to our mission of providing high-quality, flexible, and globally recognised education through Open and Distance Learning (ODL). We believe that every learner—regardless of ability, location, or background—should have equitable access to education and the tools necessary to succeed.
We are committed to aligning our digital services and platforms with international accessibility standards, including the European Accessibility Act (EAA), which comes into force on 28 June 2025. While Malaysia is not subject to EU law, GlobalNxt University welcomes the principles of the Act and is voluntarily working toward its requirements—both to ensure compliance for students and users based in the EU and to reflect our values of fairness, inclusivity, and global best practice.
The EAA is an EU directive designed to harmonise accessibility requirements across member states. It applies to a broad range of digital products and services—including websites, mobile apps, e-books, digital platforms, and online services—to ensure they are usable by people with disabilities. While the legislation is primarily intended for EU-based organisations, any institution offering services to EU citizens—including universities with international students—may fall within its scope.
The EAA requires conformance with key technical standards, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. Institutions must also publish clear Accessibility Statements explaining how users can access their content, what limitations exist, and how support or alternative formats can be requested.
Some of our students, alumni, and stakeholders are based within the EU or access our platforms from EU countries. As such, we consider parts of our digital service offering to be within the scope of the European Accessibility Act.
Although the regulatory framework is still developing across member states, GlobalNxt University is proactively enhancing the accessibility of all our platforms. Our approach includes:
Our website and learning platforms are designed to be:
We are also integrating assistive technologies and content templates that support accessible learning material design, particularly within our learning management systems.
While we strive for full accessibility, some legacy documents (e.g. PDFs, Word files, archived module content) or third-party tools may not yet meet WCAG 2.1 standards. We are working to update or replace these resources where possible and provide alternative formats upon request.
We welcome feedback and are committed to making continuous improvements. If you experience any difficulty accessing our digital content or require materials in an alternative format, please contact Accessibility Support Team at: advisor@globalnxt.edu.my.
