Global Classroom Pedagogy

The Global Classroom Pedagogy encapsulates the teaching and learning philosophy of the University. The learner asynchronously accesses a virtual space or online classroom where they can learn from the available self-instructional resources and interact with other learners and the professor to achieve a 360-degree learning experience. The online classroom typically has between 15 and 40 learners from across the globe. Each class is facilitated by one of our global faculty members.

A class normally runs for a period of 14 weeks during which there is continuous assessment at regular intervals. At the end of the period, there is a final examination only at the undergraduate level. The classroom can be accessed by students anywhere, anytime.

How Will I Learn?

Learners follow a study schedule that outlines weekly learning activities including:

  • Reviewing the online courseware
  • Watching recorded video lectures
  • Participating in weekly online discussions
  • Reviewing recommended readings from the elibrary

Study time differs per individual. Typically, a 4credit course involves about 160 hours total learning time — translating into roughly 12 hours per week. Effective learning strategies may reduce the required effort.

Yes. All that's needed is an internet connection—programmes are delivered via an interactive virtual learning platform.

Yes. Students receive a study plan to complete their degree within a reasonable timeframe. Extended breaks are possible through a leave of absence with the Registrar’s Office.

No. The learning platform and webinars are browser-based, though some plugins may be needed. You can also use mobile app.

Case Study Method

Based on the renowned Harvard Business School method, this approach immerses working professionals in real-world business scenarios – analysing debating, deciding, and defending decisions in class discussions. Faculty guide students toward key insights during discussions. GlobalNxt has adapted this method for an online environment where students thrive in discussion boards, supported by master trainers who challenge them to think deeply.

Flexi-pace – you control how fast or slow you complete your programme

The minimum duration for each programmes stated on the relevant programme page or brochure. There might be scenarios where you may want to progress slower or take a pause and resume at full pace.

This is where the University’s Flexi-Pace option comes in, enabling you to complete your academic qualification or degree quickly or slowly, as you wish. In short, you control the pace.

How Does It Work?

As a learner, you select the courses you want to enrol in from our annual roster of classes, so long as you are not enrolled in more than 4 classes at any one time. This means you can plan your classes well ahead of time.

Typically, the most popular courses are offered every couple of months’ frequency so you don’t have to wait long for the next academic term. Or you might take a few breaks in between subjects. Your convenience matters.

Extended Candidature

And even if you need more time beyond the normal candidature period of the programme you can apply for extended candidature.

  • With extended candidature, a learner can take as long as they want to complete a programme after the normal candidature period has lapsed.
  • Extended candidature allows a learner, for a fee, to extend their candidature for further 12 months.
  • A learner may continue to extend their candidature in this way for as long as they need.

Normal Candidature

  • Normal candidature is the period of time a student is given to complete a programme and starts from the time a learner starts the first subject.
  • Normal candidature is usually sufficient for the majority of students to complete the programme as long as they maintain a reasonable study-rate. For example, for the MBA programme which requires the completion of 10 subjects, learners who complete at least 4 subjects per year, complete the programme within the normal candidature.

Interactive Learning

The perceived problem with purely asynchronous communication on eLearning environments is the lack of contact with faculty/instructors as compared to the traditional classroom model of learning. Also, each learner does not study the same subject matter at the same time which further compounds the problem of giving individual attention to the learner’s problems.

GlobalNxt offers a learning platform using multiple channels where every learner is regularly updated about the learning activities that are scheduled for their benefit, irrespective of the local time zone. The Discussion Board or DB is an integral part of education at GlobalNxt

University where the action happens. The DB is the co-learning forum where learners immerse themselves in case discussions, put themselves in the shoes of decision-makers, voice opinions and defend them. This experience is facilitated by our expert faculty, who nudge and prod the forum to bring out the best in students. Modern global education systems use outcome-based achievements to measure the mastery achieved by learners. Assessments provide an assurance of learning and allow the learners to demonstrate their skills mastered during the learning process. Our assessments do not test reproduction but rather application of knowledge through engaging learning activities such as discussion forum interaction, projects and reflective assignments.
